Laxton is a small rural village in Nottinghamshire, dating from the Norman Conquest.
Todays visitors can see the castle site at the outskirts of the village, and witness the best preserved motte and bailey castle in Nottinghamshire.
One can also see the lovely, and lovely, Church of St Michael the Archangel that dates back from 1190 and is still in use today.
Yet, what makes Laxton really individual is its use today of the open field farming system.
Laxton is the last remaining open field system in England and one can walk the village yourself or take a tour, that we can happily arrange if you want.
There is a visitor’s cente in Laxton with lots more information about Laxton and its history.
In the centre of the village is the village pub where you will discover cracking value, local food and ale, in addition to agreeable villagers who’ll happily tell you a tale.
The Goat House at Ivy Cottage is opposite the Dovecote Inn and goes back over 200 years.
The Goathouse has just recently been renovated to a high level, we give excellent value accommodation with one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and one large sized bathroom. If you would lilke more information about Laxton Bed and Breakfast then visit www.the-goathouse.com.
