My mother's favorite story about me is when I was a little girl, I got in trouble for doing something I shouldn't. My mother was a bit of 'nerd' which I fondly say as I am equally as 'nerdy'. I was about 6 or 7 years old at the time, and already quite a good writer.  Her punishment for me was to write an essay explaining what I did, why I did it, and how I will never do it again.

It was her way of walking me through my process, making me think about my actions, and coming to an understanding of the issue.  It had to be in a certain format, 3 pages  with a title page and stapled together , presented at dinner. I arrived at the table with my tail tucked between my legs, sorry for my wrong doings, having reflected on the event at nauseam and ready to receive my sentencing.   I handed the paper to my mother with a pleading look on my face and she tried very hard to look serious and stern, until she broke out in the biggest laughter.  She looked at me with adoring loving eyes as she said well-done honey.

The story seems silly if you don't know why she laughed so hard.  I presented her an essay with a title page that said "S.A".  Simple and to the point, she asked for an S.A. and I gave her one.

So, what does that have to do with the truth bar? Everything.

Life is simple if you choose it to be. And along the path of discovery and formulation, my partner Sean Fay, who trusted me implicitly to create an outstanding product, had to learn how to market them. With a mindset of nutritional bars and fitness, he would get stuck on calling them "protein bars". Sean knew the bars were good, he loved the flavor, he loved the ingredients, he loved purpose, but he didn't know what to call them.

It was at Expo West 2015, we were walking the aisles looking at the products that were currently filling the shelves, and Sean was trying to identify where we lied in the sea of nutritional and functional foods. He prodded me for details," tell me about the bars Diana, I want to know why you made them". I said very passionately, "Sean, listen…

The truth is… people eat too much protein and can't digest it all so it lays dormant in the gut and becomes waste in the body.

The truth is… we don't get enough good fats to burn fat and heal the gut

The truth is… good carbohydrates are an essential macronutrient for full body nutrition, and people are eliminating them

The truth is… when the gut is working properly, all the body is working properly,

The truth is…people like their sweets, and they wont stop eating them,

The truth is …we don't get enough fiber in our diets,

The truth is

Sean is listening intently as I go through a long list of truthful statements from my years of experience in nutrition, helping people, knowing what people want in their diets, what is causing the most harm and the greatest benefits…

"So, It's a truth bar",  Sean interrupts with enthusiasm and understanding.  "Yah honey, it's a truth bar" I agree….   We both smile!

Simple and to the point, he wanted a name and I gave him one.

That is the story about how the truth came about.

The original truth bar was a hit. The taste is phenomenal, and it was energizing, satisfying and a complete macronutrient balance.   It was originally developed for fitness and nutrition.  But when I asked herself how I felt about this bar, I said I could make it better.  And I did.  Being a gut health and hormone expert, I knew that to really make this bar special, I needed to add Probiotics. The taste didn't change, the quality is still superior, the energy and macronutrients are still equal to before.

Only now we added pre and probiotics to give the truth bar more functionality.  Now it is like eating a candy bar that heals the gut.

Now some people have asked me, Why did the recipe for the original bar change?

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about PREBIOTICS and PROBIOTICS:

What is a Prebiotic?

Prebiotics come from plants, usually root plants that contain a lot of fiber and feed the good bacteria in your gut.

Why is it important to have both prebiotics and probiotics?

Probiotics alone cannot grow without a healthy gut to support them. When combining a nurturing base of prebiotics in the belly, with a good dose of probiotics, a garden of flora blossoms and fills the gut with a balanced microbiome.

Can your body make its own Conjugated Lineolic Acid?

You certainly have the gut flora to make your very own CLA. It’s one of the many things your lactobacilli and bifidobacteria do for you.

It’s important to have healthy gut flora to be able to make CLA. People with gut dysbiosis have a significantly harder job of it – possibly one reason why obesity and gut dysfunction tend to go hand-in-hand. So if you’ve been eating well for a while and your gut is humming along nicely, you can probably count on a substantial CLA intake from gut flora. If you’re eating is not so “healthy” or you simply aren’t producing enough good bacteria, Truth Bar can help by giving probiotic support to build up your colonies of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria.
